Those who walk in integrity walks securely, but those who lie, steal and cheat to get their way are doomed for failure.
If you could do anything that you want, and you knew that no one would ever find out what you did----what would you do? If you do the right thing, that is integrity.
In his study of the city in human history, Lewis Mumford, (Google him below), observed that people consistently have been willing to trade "mobility for security." This concern for security helped inspire people to gather in cities in order to share a common defense.
But no security has ever seemed adequate or permanent. In the pursuit of greater security, nations have fought wars, and families have built fences around their property. Some have resorted to hoarding resources in an attempt to be prepared for the shifting course of life.
Today, the desire for security remains as strong as ever, as people and nations seek freedom from worry and fear, pressures and anxieties, and the ups and downs of life. But how often do they know what it means to be truly secure?
The Bible teaches us that security is the by-product of walking in integrity. We become secure as we free ourselves from the corrupting influences of the world and are clean in God's sight. Our security is enhanced when we make Godly choices regarding our friends, as well as our enemies, and how we invest our time and resources. And security comes as we walk daily in fellowship (hanging-out) with God, confidently facing our problems because we are trusting in Him.
In contrast, those who "pervert" their ways embrace a life of sin. Unconcerned about God or purity, they are willing to compromise, cheat, and lie if such things seem necessary to further their cause. But although they may find temporary security, achieve short-term goals, and receive worldly riches and fame, pleasures and applause, they cannot receive ever-lasting freedom, peace, and rest that only God can give.
Today, seek to be a person of Integrity ----pure and very good, pleasing to God. Then He will become your Protector and your Shield. He will give you a peace and security that passes understanding and make you successful in all that you do.
